Hello there,

I'm A. J. Cove. My mother tells me I opened books from the age of four and made up what I thought the story was about, though I couldn't yet read. From that time, I guess I loved books and reading. I remember at the age of thirteen or so when I discovered Harlequin romances. I'd hold the book in one hand and a pocket dictionary in the other to look up words I didn't know the meaning of. I guess that's one way to build a vocabulary as a child. Boy did I get on my family's nerves using all my “big” words.

Later, in middle school, or junior high as it was called in my time, my English teacher gave us journals we had to keep throughout the year to write down our thoughts. It was then that I discovered that I love writing. From that time, I decided I would become a writer.

I wrote poetry mostly, and to my total mortification, my proud mother gave it to our pastor to read in church. Imagine how I wanted to disappear under the pews when he read about Mrs. Somebody's grey stockings (the stockings being ashy legs, not nylon). I rhymed everything then. That still makes me want to hide in the nearest closet.

By eighteen I'd moved on to stories. I wrote short stories, and in a fit of inspiration, typed out two full length novels within a matter of weeks. I have no idea if any of it was good. My sister says so, but she happens to love me, so who knows. Anyway, the first magazine I sent my short story to rejected it and my overly sensitive self gave up writing for the next nineteen years. How sad.

Many, many years later, I write fiction romances in most sub-genres, or will as I continue to write. Please check out my books at www.amirapress.com and soon to be www.cobblestone-press.com and www.newconceptspublishing.com.  I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Happy reading!
